Helping the next generation find their voice and become confident public speakers

What is the Thought of the Day Project?

The Thought of the Day Project is a student-led initiative that helps elementary schools bring short “Thought of the Day” reflections into morning assemblies or classrooms.

We support schools by sharing simple starter materials, helping them introduce the routine, and offering coaching for students who would like extra guidance.

Through these simple, regular speaking moments, students practice sharing their ideas, listening to others, and building confidence in a supportive setting.

How it works

Making Thought of the Day part of school life can be simple. Here is an easy model schools can use to get started.

In the Classroom or at Morning Assembly
Students can share a Thought of the Day during class, morning meeting, or school assembly.
One Student at a Time
Each student presents a short thought, reflection, or message to a supportive audience.
Flexible for Every School
Schools can make it part of a daily, weekly, or monthly routine.
Just One to Two Minutes
A short moment is enough to give students meaningful public speaking practice.

We’re here to help!
From starter materials to student coaching, the Thought of the Day Project helps schools bring simple public speaking opportunities to more students.

Why it matters

Every child deserves a chance to find their voice.

Through small, regular speaking opportunities, elementary students begin to:

Feel more comfortable speaking up

Organize their thoughts

Express their ideas clearly

Listen to and learn from others

Over time, these small moments help children grow into confident speakers and thoughtful listeners.

Where this began

This project grew out of my own elementary school experience with The Thought of the Day, where I first learned how meaningful public speaking skills can be formed just by a small opportunity to speak.
