The Thought of the Day Project
A student-led nonprofit initiative
MISSION - Helping the next generation become confident and capable public speakers
What is the ToTD Project?
The Thought of the Day Project is a student-led organization that promotes the betterment of public speaking skills of elementary school students by providing an opportunity to present in front of a crowd. A Thought of the Day is a short thought of reflection shared in a supportive setting.
How it works
-
One student shares a short thought
-
Done routinely (Every day, week, etc)
-
One to two minutes is enough
Why it matters
Small opportunities to speak can help elementary students:
-
Feel more comfortable using their voice
-
Organize their thoughts
Where this began
This project grew out of my own elementary school experience with The Thought of the Day, where I first learned how meaningful public speaking skills can be formed just by a small opportunity to speak.
Founded by Sara Tateshima, an 8th-grade student in Los Angeles, California
